| The Rhinebeck Arts Festival, held at the Dutchess County Fairgrounds, will be a celebration of artistic expression in its many forms with a main focus on craft, visual art, food and music. In addition to 200 of America's top artists and craftspeople, the festival will highlight the exciting art, culture and food of the Hudson Valley; a line-up of exceptional live music; children’s activities; an interactive musical experience; hands-on craft demonstrations; book signings, dance and more. Artrider is collaborating with Hudson Valley Tourism, the Dutchess County Arts Council, and Rhinebeck and other local Chambers of Commerce with the intention of making this event the center of an Annual "Arts Weekend" for the pleasure of area residents and tourists. Tourism's 2013 economic impact numbers are in, and we are pleased to tell you that they are up overall! Direct spending by visitors in 2013 was a healthy $481,545,000 (up from $475,556,000 in 2012).
Tourism sustains 8,774 full-time jobs, generating $245,396,000 million in payroll. This is an increase from 8,436 FTE tourism jobs in 2012, with a payroll of $243,058,000. Visitor expenditures include Transportation, $132 million; Food, $111 million; Lodging, $92 million; Shopping, $85 million; and Recreation, $32 million.
Locally, Dutchess County realized $34,371,429 in tax revenue in 2013, an increase from 2012's tourism- generated income of $33,637,676. Nearly 4½ million travelers visit Dutchess annually. Kim Cantine and Architect Jeffrey Milstein will be celebrating the opening of their new store in the Village of Rhinebeck, Tulip, a modern gallery with fresh cut flowers, contemporary photography, designer gifts, and home decor. Tulip's floral service includes flowers from around the world (as well as locally sourced in season) either by the stem or full design service for both private and corporate clients. Jeffrey Milstein’s photographs have been exhibited and collected though out the United States and Europe, and are currently represented in the USA by Kopeikin Gallery in Los Angeles and Benrubi Gallery in NYC. | Sep 21 NDH Thrift Shop Celebrates New Space with Ribbon Cutting |
To celebrate a larger and renovated new location, a special grand opening event will be held for Sweet Repeats Thrift Shop at 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21 at 97 Montgomery St.
Hosted by the Rhinebeck and Red Hook Area Chambers of Commerce with Northern Dutchess Hospital, the event will feature a ribbon cutting, refreshments and “buy 2, get 1 free” discounts storewide, as well as extended shop hours until 7 p.m. The thrift shop is run by the hospital’s volunteer-based auxiliary and all proceeds benefit the hospital, which is a nonprofit.
Thanks to many upgrades, Sweet Repeats now boasts hardwood floors and slat walls where accessories such as scarves, hats and purses as well as household goods are neatly displayed. Freshly painted shelves hold a wide collection of kitchenware and modern clothing racks allow for better browsing of women’s, men’s and children’s clothing. For shoppers’ convenience, two dressing rooms and a handicap entrance were added and credit cards are now accepted. A designated nearby parking lot is under construction.

The first weekend of October see 200 of America’s best independent artists and craftspeople in the heart of the beautiful Hudson Valley along with great live music, specialty food and family activities.
The third annual Rhinebeck Arts Festival draws passionate, arts conscious visitors from the Hudson Valley as well as tourists from New York City, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts and beyond to experience exciting art, meet diverse modern American makers, and partake in adventurous shopping. These enthusiastic show-goers will see artists and craftspeople from 20 states while listening to outstanding soulful music by Woodstock’s Lindsay Webster Band.
In addition there will be a diverse array of activities ranging from craft demonstrations to hands-on art encounters and specialty food, wine, liquor and beverage tastings. This is a destination event not to miss!

With You Lockets, a company based in Rhinebeck, NY, has teamed up with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) this year to raise money to help fund the research that will make a real impact for the women fighting this disease. BCRF is a nonprofit organization committed to achieving prevention and a cure for breast cancer. They provide critical funding for cancer research worldwide to fuel advances in tumor biology, genetics, prevention, treatment, metastasis and survivorship.
With You is proud to have seven pieces featured in this year’s Shop Pink campaign and will be donating 10% of all of the proceeds from sales to BCRF.
Because With You founders, Mikki Glass and Troy Haley, live in Rhinebeck and truly believe there’s even more that can be done for the cause, they have teamed up with the Rhinebeck Area Chamber of Commerce to bring the fight home on Friday, October 16, 2015 with PAY IT PINK.
